South African Hockey has today announced the South African U21 Women’s team for the Junior African Cup of Nations in Egypt. The team will play a warmup series against India U21 as well. The 2023 Hockey Junior Africa Cup will take place from the 12-19 March 2023 in Ismailia in Egypt. The top two teams will qualify for the FIH Hockey Junior Cup in Santiago in Chile. The Chile tournament is the 10th edition of the tournament with the South African team looking to add to their 7th place finish in 2022 at home. The team selected has a number of Internationally capped players including the likes of Kayla Swarts, Morgan de Jager, Nstopa Mokeona and Taheera Augousti. Daniella de Oliviera, Laiken Brisset and Cerian Fourie (Reserve) were part of the SA Indoor Hockey side that competed in the FIH Indoor Hockey World Cup in Pretoria. Hosting Announcement: JUNIOR AFRICA CUP [JAC] 2023 (M/W) | 12 – 19 March 2023, Ismailia – Egypt  

23 September 2021 Lausanne, Switzerland: Following last week’s announcement by Hockey Australia and Hockey New Zealand that they will no longer be able to participate to the FIH Odisha Hockey Men’s Junior World Cup Bhubaneswar 2021 due to COVID-related international travel restrictions put in place by their respective governments, both teams have been replaced by the USA and Canada. Since the qualification process for the event stipulates that the Pan American Hockey Federation has the quota of the first reserve, the USA – who finished third of the recent Junior Pan Am Championships – have been selected. The second reserve spot was attributed to the best team in the FIH World Rankings (Seniors) not yet qualified, namely Canada. As announced by Hockey India earlier today, the event (24 November – 5 December) will take place in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, the outstanding venue which will also host the next FIH Hockey Men’s World Cup in 2023. The match schedule, involving 16 teams, will be communicated at a later stage. The list of Officials selected for the event is available here.
