South Africa Women’s Squad Named for FIH Hockey World Cup 2026

South African Hockey has announced the 20-player Women’s squad selected to represent the country at the 2026 FIH Hockey World Cup in Belgium and the Netherlands.

The squad was confirmed following South Africa’s recent four-match Test series against Namibia in Cape Town and brings together an exciting combination of international experience and emerging talent.

The squad includes 10 Olympians, 9 of which did duty in Paris in 2024, including captain Edith Molikoe and the players that joined the 50-club this week in Ongeziwe Mali and Ntsopa Mokoena. Hanna Pearce, Taheera Augousti and Thati Zulu add to the core experienced group, while the likes of Ane Jansen van Vuuren and Caylin Maree will hope to make the step up from Junior World Cup to Senior World Cup a seamless one.

SA Hockey President Deon Morgan congratulated the selected players.

“Representing South Africa at a World Cup is one of the greatest honours available to a hockey player,” said Morgan.

“We congratulate every player selected and recognise the years of commitment, sacrifice and hard work that have brought them to this moment. We also acknowledge the coaches, families, schools, clubs and provinces who have played an important role in their journeys.

“This squad will carry the hopes of the South African hockey community, and we wish them every success as they prepare to represent our country.”

The South African Women will continue their final preparations with a training and match programme in Scotland before travelling to Netherlands for the World Cup.
