diversity inclusion day 2026

FIH Diversity and Inclusion Day on 20 August

The fifth edition of FIH Diversity and Inclusion Day will take place on 20 August 2026, coinciding with the start of the inaugural FIH Para Hockey World Cup.

This initiative from hockey’s world governing body aims to bring the global hockey community together around one of the sport’s most fundamental values: inclusion.

As hockey fans around the world gather for the FIH Hockey World Cup 2026 and the first-ever FIH Para Hockey World Cup, this year’s celebration carries particular significance.

On this occasion, athletes and para-athletes (with intellectual disabilities) have delivered a global message of togetherness and respect:

Today is FIH Diversity and Inclusion Day.
No matter your gender …
No matter your ethnic background …
No matter your physical or intellectual abilities …
No matter your sexual orientation …
No matter your age …
… EVERYONE is welcome in hockey!
Diversity is wealth.
Inclusion must be the norm.
WE ARE ALL #MadeForHockey!

Commenting on FIH Diversity and Inclusion Day, FIH President Tayyab Ikram said: “Hockey is a sport for everyone. It brings together people from every background, united by a shared passion and common values. As we celebrate the fifth edition of FIH Diversity and Inclusion Day, let us continue to make our sport a place where everyone feels welcome, respected and valued. Diversity makes our hockey community stronger, and inclusion must always be at the heart of what we do. We are all #MadeForHockey!”
